Hugo Wilson’s work questions our notions of what it is to be human by subverting the very systems we construct to create order. Wilson is interested in the way that governing systems impact on a personal and collective level, as well as the effect they have on our emotions or actions. In trying to interpret his works, the viewer quickly sees that the act of interpretation is flawed. Wilson’s work engages with the question of choice, and whether there is any after all.
