Paul Fryer: Telstar

Paul Fryer
Telstar (in production)

This work features eleven dodecaherdal Telstar satellites, the first orbital telecommunications device, launched in 1962. It was the first satellite designed to transmit telephone and high speed data communications which were civilian in nature. The pieces are crafted from exotic and indigenous woods, each one unique, which are reflections of each other. The names and the positioning of the Telstars is based on the Sepher Yetzirah, the ancient hebrew tree of life.
